Painting Outside with Matt Lively

SPRING 2024

Fridays 10am - 1pm,  April 5th - May 24th

Hi!!!!  The following is the information about the Spring 2024 session of Painting Outside with Matt Lively.  

We are a group of folks painting outside.  I am one of the folks but will also be responsible for organizing the outings and will be available for any technical questions any participants may have during our outings. I will meet with everyone during our outings and make myself available via other means outside of our group times.  

 In all meetings, each participant is responsible for their own food, safety and well-being.  This is a Spring session and the weather should be in our favor.  We could have rain postponements* but temperature will not be an issue. 

The group will be a limited number of participants so I can talk with everyone.   

At 9:30am before each session, I will be onsite doing a short demo.

 The goal of this group is to get better at painting and create a reason to go and do it.  Since I love to paint and teach, I invite you to join me outside so that we can all get better at painting.  The repetition of the outings is key in learning.  Painting outside allows for the opportunity to work quickly and without the burden of deep thought that is suffered in the studio.  We go outside and paint what’s there.  

In order to make this project sustainable, ongoing, and able to grow to include more interesting locations, I will be requiring a registration fee from each participant.  The registration fee includes: organization, instruction when needed, critique when asked, locations, communication (email and text), water, *and pop up shows* including our best work at Glave Kocen Petite after our session!

We will have guest artists during some of our outings for you to learn from as well! 

8 Sessions would be $200 total registration fee if paid in advance.  ($250 after March 8th)

Early registration for the Spring 2024 session of Painting Outside with Matt Lively officially begins, Friday, March 1st at 9am via my website (mattlivelystore.com).  The payment on my site works with PayPal and credit cards (via Stripe).  In the event that you need to pay a different way, let me know as soon as you can.  I can do Venmo and other means.  

The registration fee includes all.   

DATES: The Spring 2024 group will meet Friday’s from 10am - 1:00pm starting April 5th and continuing until May 24th 2023 .  We will meet 8 times.

Each painter will provide for their own painting needs, creature comforts (bug spray?) and snacks if needed.  I will provide drinking water. 

LOCATIONS: Locations are subject to change but you will be notified via email in a timely manner before the session starts and each subsequent week.  I will send a weekly email on Sundays to detail the next location.  This session, I am securing some locations we have not been.  I have toured a couple possibilities.  

*Rain/makeup days : In the event of a rainout, we will tack on additional Fridays corresponding to the number of rainouts.  If it is raining, I will send an email with that days status.  

 Suggestion:  what you paint that day is what you paint.  Resist addressing today’s painting again until after our last meeting.  Suffering this suggestion will pay off.
